Standard v. Custom Configuration
🆚 A comparison of prepackaged solutions and custom configurations.
When navigating through configuration pages in Clevero, you will notice the words “Standard” and “Custom” (e.g. Standard Records and Custom Records). Likewise, you may see that certain elements (e.g. Views/Layouts) may be disabled or uneditable.
NoteLearn more about differences between Standard and Custom Records here.
These distinctions indicate the presence of preconfigured standard settings and the availability of customisable options according to your specific requirements.
Let’s find out the comparison between our types of configurations:
| Standard Configuration | Custom Configuration | |
|---|---|---|
| Definition | Provisioned as part of purchased solutions, modules, or licenses. | Additional configuration to customise or expand capabilities. |
| Updates | End users cannot update it. | If your licence permits, it can be added/modified to your Clevero instance by us (or your 3rd Party Implementer) or Admin users. |
| Shared between instances | It may be common to multiple customers (e.g., in the case of Standard solutions). | Not shared between instances. |
| Identification | Identified by label, disabled components, or absence on certain screens. | Uniquely customised to desired solution requirements. |
| Addition to Standard Configuration | Not applicable. | Custom configuration can be added to standard configuration (e.g., a Custom Field to a Standard Record). |
| Replacement or Creation | Cannot replace existing Standard Configuration. | Can replace or create new configurations (assuming the licence permits it). |
| License requirement | Available with various licenses. | Available with Professional and above licenses. |
User-Generated Configuration Content
In specific features such as Email Templates, Views/Layouts, or Document Templates, end users with granted permissions can create configurations.
Although these elements are categorised as Custom Configurations within an instance and may be provisioned as uneditable parts of a Standard Solution, it is important to note that they are not limited to the "Admin" only, as mentioned above. Users can customise these specific components based on their needs and preferences.
