Period Metrics

Overview

Period Metrics helps you track and compare business metrics over time. It automatically calculates values for defined periods, such as weeks, months, quarters, or years, so you can monitor trends without manually compiling the data.

Once configured, Period Metrics automatically updates your metrics on a regular schedule and stores the results against the relevant periods.

What can you use Period Metrics for?

Period Metrics is useful for monitoring how your business is performing over time. For example, you can use it to:

  • Track support requests by monitoring the number of requests received each month.
  • Monitor revenue by calculating the total invoice value for each month or quarter.
  • Track the average invoice value over a specific period.
  • Monitor the number of active customers at the end of each period.
  • Track monthly recurring revenue (MRR) for each period.
  • Monitor sales activity by tracking the number or total value of sales records created.

How Period Metrics works

Period Metrics organises your data into different time periods:

Year → Quarter → Period

A period can represent a timeframe such as a week or month. Metrics are calculated for each period and can also be rolled up to the corresponding quarter or year.

Choose the right calculation

The calculation type depends on what you want to measure:

  • Count

Use Count when you want to know how many records match your criteria.

  • Sum

Use Sum when you want to add together values from a field.

  • Average

Use Average when you want to calculate the average value of a field.

  • Snapshot

Use Snapshot when you want to capture a value at a specific point in time, rather than continuously recalculate it after the period ends.

Getting started

Period Metrics requires some initial configuration based on the metrics you want to track.

Typically, the setup includes:

  1. Decide what you want to measure and how you want to calculate it.
  2. Choose the records and fields that contain the information you want to track.
  3. Your Clevero team can configure Period Metrics based on your requirements.
  4. Once configured, the system automatically calculates the metrics for each period.
