The Field Audit Trail records every action performed on a record's fields, showing what was changed and who changed it. This guide will help you understand the benefits of the Field Audit Trail and how to access it.

2. Benefits

The Field Audit Trail helps maintain the integrity of your record configuration. It provides the following benefits:

  • Monitor changes made to fields, such as updates to the Field Name or Internal ID.
  • Identify which user made a specific change to a field.
  • Review the previous and updated values of a field at any time.

3. Accessing the Field Audit Trail

You can also follow the same steps using the written guide below.

  1. Open the record you want to configure and go to Fields.
  2. Select the field you want to review from the list. The field details open on the right.
  3. Below the field details, click Audit Trail (click to show) to expand it.
  4. The Audit Trail expands and shows the history of changes made to the field.

Field Audit Trail Entries

Each Field Audit Trail entry contains the following information:

EntriesDescription
ActionThe specific action performed on the field.
FieldThe particular field property impacted by the action, such as the Field Name or Internal ID.
New ValueThe updated value of the field property after the action was executed.
Old ValueThe field property's original value before any modifications were made.
Modified ByThe user responsible for initiating and executing the action.
Modified OnThe timestamp when the action occurred.

Example

A field named Address is renamed to Address 2 and saved. The Field Audit Trail records an entry showing the property that was changed under Field, Address 2 as the New Value, Address as the Old Value, the user who made the change under Modified By, and the date and time of the change under Modified On.
