Creating Fields

Fields let you define how data is captured and displayed.
In this page, you will learn to create fields from System Settings or directly from a Record’s Entry Layout. Both methods let you customise field properties such as name, data type, default value, and visibility settings.

This method lets you create a new field directly while editing a record layout, it's perfect for quickly adding fields without leaving the page.
- From the record view, click the ⋯ (three dots) icon and select Configure Record.
- In the record configuration, open Entry Layout from the side navigation.
- Select the existing layout you use.
- Drag and drop a Field component into the layout.
- In the Inspect tab, click + to create a new field.
- Enter field details:
- Name and Data Type. Internal ID will be auto-generated.
- Expand Other Settings to set up placeholders, default values, or tooltips.
NoteField settings may vary depending on the chosen data type.
- Click Save to add the field to the layout.
- The new field appears immediately on your layout. Reorder or adjust the field placement as needed.
- Click Save Changes to save the layout.
- If you go back to the record configuration and open Fields, you’ll see that the field you just created has been added.
Use this method when you want to define a field first before adding it to your record layout.
- From the record view, click the ⋯ (three dots) icon and select Configure Record.
- In the record configuration, select Fields from the side navigation.
- Click on the "+ Add Field" button to create a new field.
- Specify the following required fields:
- Name and Data Type. Internal ID will be auto-generated.
- Expand Other Settings to set up placeholders, default values, or tooltips.
- Click Save to create the field.
- Go to Entry Layout in the side navigation. Select the existing layout you use.
- Drag and drop a Field component onto the layout.
- In the Inspect tab, select the field you just created.
- Reorder or adjust the field placement as needed. Click Save Changes to save the layout.
